The situation is critical.
Though the news coverage has tapered off, and the tragic images of lives torn apart are not flashed on TV every night, the urgent need to bring God’s comfort to the people of Israel’s Galilee region is still there.
My heart aches for the grief-stricken parents I met while visiting the small village of Sderot in Northern Israel Their 15-year old son lost his left foot and most of his right foot when a bomb exploded as he was running for cover. I also met two young children whose mother was killed right before their eyes when a Ketyusha missile crashed into their home. While holding the hands of her children, this lovely mother was struck in the head and killed instantly.
My words can't begin to describe the pain I felt for these families and every family in Sderot living under these deplorable conditions…and the urgency in my spirit to do all I can to help them and the thousands just like them across this region.
We can't see the terrible suffering of children in places like Sderot, Sudan, Cambodia, the Middle East, and Asia without feeling a passionate desire "to do something." Even in these tumultuous times, we can impact the destiny of thousands of children around the world—when we take a stand together.
